EDU-214 IPad’s Assistive Aid for Special Needs
25 October 2016
The technology that I chose to write about for this part of the assignment was the

assistive learning tools in the IPad for people with special needs. I chose the IPad, because of the

opportunities it gives students to learn without challenges. I believe that the IPad is very useful

for people with special needs, because of the options it provides. For example, it has apps for

students with down syndrome, apraxia, and ADHD. Those are just a few of the special disorders

that the IPad can help with. It makes learning so much easier, because of the apps, and

assistances it provides for people. For instance, Shah states that one child was using

Proloquo2Go on the IPad for her speech disorder, and it works wonders for her. In the article, it

says that she was having a difficult time communicating with others, and it was already

challenging enough that she also has down syndrome, so it was frustrating for her to speak and

have people understand her. The IPad gave her the opportunity to choose words, and form

sentences for her with ease. The IPad will impact education for students by making it simpler to

communicate and learn. The impact it will have on the students themselves would be a

tremendous increase in their knowledge and confidence, because it’s a tool to help them become

successful.
