Acceptable Forms of Identification Needed at Enrollment

You must have two of the documents listed below to process your enrollment.

1. One of the two must be a government-issued photo identification, such as New SmartID Card for
a state driver’s license, passport, or military ID – Primary Identification

1. U .S. Passport (unexpired or expired) SmartID Card Issuance

1, 2, 3... How to Enroll, Obtain and Activate Your SmartID Card:


Step 1
Enroll for your SmartID
Employees will receive an email from GSA with a link to an online scheduling tool to make an enrollment appointment at an area
credentialing station. Employees are required to bring two forms of identification with them to their appointment (See complete list of
acceptable forms on the reverse page). Your enrollment cannot be processed without two forms of identification.

Step 2
The SmartID will be printed and shipped to a designated location
Employees will be notified by email when their card is ready for pickup and activation at the credentialing station where they enrolled. It could
take up to one month for the card to be printed and shipped.

Step 3
Activate your SmartID
During activation, you will:
• Provide a fingerprint for verification (match with system and match to card)
• Create a Personal Identification Number (PIN)
• Activate the card for us
