11A: Have a car accident, book a holiday, get paid, give someone a

call, get a message, check your bank account, transfer money to


someone’s account, have an operation, lose your job. My sister
booked a holiday last week. Present perfect for giving news about
things that happened in the past and are connected to the present.
We don’t know or don’t say when they happened. Simple Past if
we say when something happened||| JUST: To say st happened
very recently (Decir algo que pasó hace muy poco): I’ve just had
lunch. I’ve just found a new job. (acabo de..). YET: hasn’t happened
but we think it will happen in the future (no ha sucedido, pero
creemos que sucederá en el futuro.) I haven’t booked holiday yet
(aun no). ALREADY: happened before now (often sooner that
expected) (sucedió antes de ahora (a menudo antes de lo
esperado)): He’s already had an operation (Él ya tuvo una
operación), I’ve already been on holiday (Ya he estado de
vacaciones) He’s already started a new relationship (Él ya comenzó
una nueva relación.)

11B: ROB (people and banks): I was robbed (robado-asaltado) on


the way home last night. The robber ran away. There was a
robbery at the station (robber (criminal), robbery (crimen)). STEAL:
Money and things. Look. That man is stealing your car. (thief
(thieves), theft). BURGLE: Houses and flats. Our flat was burgled
twice last year (burglar, burglary). MURDER: Do the police think he
was murdered? (murderer, murder). BREAK INTO: Building or a
car. Last week someone broke into our house and stole our tv.
BULLETS: Does that gun any bullets in it?. A suspect: Are the police
saying that the driver is a suspect?. Arrest: 3 people were arrested.
He’s robbing a bank. He’s stealing a bag. He’s burling a house. He’s
breaking into a car
