St.

Clare of assisi was born on July 16, 1194,

the beauitful eldest daughter of favorino sciffi, count of sasso-rosso and his
wife ortolana .But tradition says her father was weathy . As a young girl st
clare dedicated to prayer . At 18 she heard St. Francis of assisi preach
during a lenten service in the chruch of San Giorgio and asked him to help
her live according to the gospel. On sunday in 1212 st clare left her father
home and went to st francis . St clare cut off her hair and was given a plain
robe and veil exchange for her rich gown. Soon after she join the convent
of nuns of San Paulo under oders of francis . St clare took care of francis as
her grow old . Over time woman join st clare and her young sister did to.
They became known as the "poor lady of san damiano". They lived a simple
life with exterm cleanies and seclusion from the world .In 1224 an army of
rough soldiers from frederick the 2nd came to attack assisi. Although very
sick went out to meet them with the blessed sacrament on her hands . Then
2 days later st clare died at 59 years old . Clare often is pictured carring a
monstrance or pyx to commemorate the time she warded off the soldiers at
the gates of her covent. St Clare feast day is celebrated on August 11.

Why I chosed St. Clare of assis as my saint was because her story is
inspiring to me . She was a beauitful young girl . All she had to hear was St.
Francis and her life changed. The inspiring part of all to me is how money
was never important to her . I used to think money was the one key that
would bring me happiness but i realized the money is not everything . I
ones asked for her help . To help me get this girls away from me that
wouldnt leave me alone they always kept being mean to me . I asked for
her help and she did . I felt that she helped me because she also ones had
felt kind of the same for example with the army of solders came up to her .
In i thank her very much for heping me . In also that's why I chosed St.Clare
of asissi to be my saint .
