Initiating insulin therapy :

Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM)
with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) -At the time
of discharge from hospital ,should be
preferably on basalbolus regimen.
Patients with type 1 diabetes and not in DKA, also
should be initiated preferably on basalbolus
regimen or other regimen with starting dose of
0.5 unit/kg/day and then on basis of SMPG, dose
of insulin should be adjusted
