This letter is written in recommendation of Ms. Becca Hurth asa future teacher.
Becca was employed as a teacher assistant with the Sound Reading Framework
literacy program during the 2016 summer program and has continued her
involvement with this program during the Fall, 2016 and Spring, 2017 semesters.
‘The Sound Reading Framework provides intensive phonics-based literacy
instruction to Kindergarten-Third grade students at three Grand Rapids Public
elementary schools.
SRF student assistants work for two hours at least three days per week in one
assigned K-3 classwork. Their primary focus is working individually and in small
groups with students on specific literacy skills. Tasks include using observations
and data to plan individualized lessons, assessing effectiveness and modifying
instruction, conferencing regularly with the classroom teacher, and managing
student behavior during teaching interactions.
Becca continues to be an excellent addition to our team of student assistants. She is
always communicative, punctual and well prepared. Becca has enhanced her
knowledge and skills for planning and implementing instructional interactions for
students. She has strong abilities for building effective relationships with students
and displays mature abilities for utilizing management strategies enhance
engagement and focus. Becca has developed positive working relationships with
her supervising teacher, whose evaluation of Becca’s work is exceptional. Becca is a
‘truly outstanding student assistant and I have every confidence that she will
continue to evolve into a very effective teacher.
