Ms. Josephs worked at Santa Monica International School as a classroom teacher in Grade 4 in the school year 2015-2016, and as a combined grades classroom teacher in Grades 5, 6, and 7 in the school year 2016-2017 Santa Monica is a private school accredited by Westem Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in the United States. Due to the requirements set by the accrediting commission, we have high academic standards guided by the Common Core State Standards. Our vision is to prepare responsible and aware citizens for the future international communities. As the principal of Santa Monica International School I was her supervisor for the entire duration of her employment. Ms. Josephs is a teacher with an exceptional positive attitude towards students and school. She encourages inventiveness and motivates her students to achieve their fullest potential. She introduced to her class American Sign Language, and a basic programming language. She developed the curriculum for Grades 5, 6, and 7 for the school year 2016-2017. Her students were encouraged to form, logically structure, and voice their own opinions. This was particularly visible in her project about politics that happened during the United States presidential election in 2016. Students had to conduct an independent academic research about the candidates, prepare a presentation and voice their opinions. What was crucial, Ms. Josephs facilitated the project as an academic practice, without imposing her own political stance. Her dedication to teaching can be also seen in her involvement in school activities. Ms. Josephs organized an Art Club for Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 in the school year 2016-2017. This was her personal and voluntary initiative. The Art Club was formed to develop student creativity, as well as their awareness of the history of art. Ms. Josephs is a dedicated teacher and a kind person. She worked well with the faculty staff and administration, as she easily adapts to changes and has a positive attitude towards work. I highly recommend her to your institution.
