ALLELES: The alleles are each of the forms that the
same gene can have, they determines certain characteristics according to their properties. They are located in the same position within the homologous chromosomes. If the two alleles are identical, the individual is homozygous for this gene. On the other hand, if the alleles are different, the individual is heterozygous for this gene.
GENOTYPE: It is the genetic content of an organism and it is used to determine the
specific variations that each individual has. The genotype together with environmental factors (for example: places with radiations that can affect the development of the baby).
PHENOTYPE: It is the set of characters visible in an individual as a result of the
interaction between their genotype and the environment. I mean, is how are you physically(Colour eyes, hair...) and traits that are not visible (have an enzyme or not, )
HOMOZYGOUS: An individual is homozygous for a gen when both
alleles it carries for that gene are the same. Each allele of a particular gene is inherited from each parent. If both alleles for that particular gene are the same, then the organism is homozygotic.
HETEROZYGOUS: An organism is heterozygous when it inherits two
different forms of a particular gene (one from each parent)
HYBRID: It is a living organism from the crossing of two other
organisms by sexual reproduction. To be hybrid must be born of race, species ... different or one or more different qualities. For example, when a donkey / donkey and a mare meet the offspring is a mule and is semi-sterile because if it comes out female can be fertile but the male is not sterile because of the genetic problems.
