Dear Representative David Rouzer:

My name is Salena Cedillo and I am a student at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke enrolled in
the Social Work Program. This letter is to inform you about a social policy that I have chosen to advocate for that is
currently in a heated debate. The DREAM Act has respectively benefited the overall population that receives it.
The DREAM Act has helped many students graduate and apply for DACA so that they can further their education. I
have become an advocate for this act with the intention to keep it in place and to steer away from the removal of it.
As a senior in college, I am aware of how important education is and how far it can take someone in life.

The Dream Act/DACA benefits many undocumented immigrant students by allowing them to receive an
equal education that many of their citizen peers have. Since it is illegal for parents/guardians to keep their children
out of school until the age of sixteen, it would only be right to make DACA permanent. If these students view
college in their future, it will encourage them to continue and do their best in school. Therefore, it is significant that
we address this issue with the intention to have a clean DREAM Act and keep it permanent for generations to come.
DACA has only temporary fixed the problem, but with your help, I know that you can be counted on to be a voice
for the students that just want to better their lives just like their hardworking parents have done for them.

Yours respectfully,

Salena Cedillo
