Universal Design for Learning (UDL): You can use headphones from the UDL lab for this lesson. Students will
be able to hear the PowerPoint movie without having to worry about any outside noise. The headphones can
also be equipped with the microphone so students can create a narrated PowerPoint themselves!

Lesson idea implementation:

The teacher will create a PowerPoint movie of the introduction to a lesson. This will allow students to preview
the video at home before coming to class the next day. That way students will have some background
information or a previous knowledge depth before coming to class for a new content standard. This will take
about 20 minutes for the teacher to complete because it is just a short overview of a standard to get the
students familiar with a standard. It should only take the students a few minutes to preview but they can
watch the video as many times as they would like to (differentiation).
Student learning will be assessed the next day in class by possibly an interactive quiz to test what they learned
from the video before they begin the lesson. The teacher can also just have a class discussion and assess this
way. The students could then extend their learning by creating a PowerPoint movie at the end of the unit to
show what all they have learned during the unit. To conclude the lesson, I would have the students re-watch
the video and see if the information makes more sense to them now.

Reflective Practice:
This activity can impact student learning because it will allow the students to walk into the classroom with at
least the same basis of knowledge on a unit. It allows more students to come in with prior knowledge they
may not have had otherwise. To further extend the lesson the students could be taught how to create a
PowerPoint movie themselves. To enhance this project, students could use future standards to provide
themselves with a video to watch before they learn about the content of the standard in class.
