Methodology

The main point of the study is to make an alternative design algorithm for footings using matlab. Firstly,
we composed a program using matlab using different design methods and considerations. When the
design is completed, we will run a few tests and refine the algorithms used for the program. After getting
the bugs resolved we will use a simple design problem to verify the final program which will be used as a
benchmark.

After the final program is completed, we will use either an existing structure or one under construction
and use the final program compiled to design the footing members using the design loads on the plan
itself. When the program gives us a design for the members, we eill then perform a comparative analysis
between the proposed size of the members and the one given by the program.
