STUDY ON THE COST OPTIMISATION IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF

COMPRESSION MEMBERS BY THE ADDITION OF Fe 500D BARS
OVER THE CONVENTIONAL Fe 500 BARS USING MS EXCEL

The use of high strength bars is much needed to optimize the cost of construction
and to accomdate the demands of the ever evolving construction industry but many
previous works suggested that the use of high strength steel bars will increase the
chance of sudden failure I.e, the preceding failure of concrete over yielding of steel
bars,which if happens can cost both lives and property unlike the case in which steel
yields before the failure in concrete takes place. So taking into view this problem and
the bars with increased ductility is been manufactured and an effort is made in this
study on the economic aspects of the use of Fe 500D over the conventional Fe 500
bars available in the market using Microsoft excel.
