Security Options…
Four Security Models:
• None
– Individual user access to reports is determined by
assigned responsibility(ies)
• Flexfield Value Security
– Standard flexfield value security (GL Security Rules or
Data Access Sets) is attached to a responsibility and
applied to publishing and viewing financial reports
• User to Value Security
– Security can be defined in Oracle Report Manager to
control access to secured financial reports
• PL/SQL Based Security
– Create and apply custom security suited to an
organization’s specific needs

© DBAK 2011 36
Security Options…
Flexfield Value Security
• The report is a financial report (FSG)
• The report is submitted with a content set
• Exactly one segment value in the content set has a display
type of PE (Page/Expand)
• Choose the security in the report submission parameter
User to Value Security
• Applied to FSGs that use a content set or standard reports
that contain a valid expansion value
• Based on segment values for reports published in the
repository
– View reports based on a segment value and framed by a
security model set for the specific user(s)

© DBAK 2011 37
Security Options…
User to Value Security Setups
• Select participating valuesets
• Assign user privileges to values within the valuesets

Things to Consider…
Need an Oracle log-in to access reports, but uses the
Oracle Applications Self Services Web Applications
Requires XML Publisher (XDO Engine) for publishing
reports with logos and formatting
FSG’s must be defined in the General Ledger
Standard reports must be assigned to the request
group assigned to the Report Manager
responsibility(ies)
Ensure the GL: Data Access Set profile option is set
correctly for the Report Manager responsibility
(pointed to the correct ledger or ledger set)

© DBAK 2011 42
Things to Consider…
Templates are report-specific
• Templates need to be defined for each report published
through Report Manager, including Standard reports
• Can use the seeded “Generic FSG Template” with any
FSG report
• Cannot modify the seeded “Generic FSG Template”
Standard report templates must be defined from the
XML Publisher responsibility
Run reports with content sets only in the sequentially
processing mode
• XML Publisher does not support the parallel type
processing with content sets

© DBAK 2011 43
Things to Consider…
Cannot use Report Manager to define or update FSG
report components at this time

Maintenance prior to running the maintenance
