RxBox 1000: Better Quality health care for the Filipinos

The RxBox program aims to provide better access to life-saving health care service in isolated and
disadvantaged communities nationwide. The project in the region started on February 2016 with a
total of 91 target sites from Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor. However, due to the creation
of the Negros Island Region, Negros Oriental was separated from Central Visayas. The original 91 sites
became 79 after the separation.

1. Orientation of the target Rural Health Units in the region

Several orientations were conducted to the identified Rural Health Units in the region. The
orientations were attended by Municipal Health Officer, Nurse and Municipal Planning Officer. The
orientations were conducted at different focal areas. A total of eight (8) orientations were conducted
for the 79 identified RHUs.

2. Orientation of DOH Developmental Management Officers (DMOs) in Bohol and Cebu

Last November 28 and December 5, 2016, an orientation was conducted to DMOs in Bohol and Cebu.
This was conducted to facilitate the implementation of the roll out of the devices in the provinces.
Aside from that, it was also the aim of the orientation to tap the DMOs as facilitators during the super
users' trainings.
3. RxBox Stakeholders' Meeting

On February 10, 2017 a stakeholders' meeting was conducted to discuss important activities and
related topics to different stakeholders in the region. The meeting was attended by 95 participants
from different Rural Health Units, Provincial Health Unit and the Department of Health.

Speakers from the University of the Philippines Manila - National Telehealth Center, Dr. Raymond
Francis Sarmiento and Mr. Arturo Ongkeko Jr. were invited for the meeting. Apart from the
presentation of the rationale, the meeting also discussed the different components of the program
and the role of the electronic medical record in the success of the project.

4. RxBox Demonstration at Ubay, Bohol

On May 5, 2017, during the visit of DOST Sec. Fortunato dela Peña, the RxBox device was showcased
to the public. A demonstration of the capability of the device was shown to the audience. Among the
audience included the members of the Congressional Committee on Science and Technology (S&T) led by S&T
Committee Chair, Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado.

5. Site visits in all RHUs in the region

Site visits were conducted to all RHUs in the three provinces namely Bohol, Cebu, and Siquijor. These
visits were done to ensure that the RHUs are ready for the project implementation and to answer any
concerns that were not addressed during the orientation. Furthermore, these were done to collect
needed documents and to assign geographical position to the recipient RHUs. The site visits were
conducted between the months of February - July 2017.

6. RxBox - iClinicsys Integration

On November 7-10, 2017, the RxBox - iClinicsys Integration training was conducted together with the
DOH counterparts. The integration entails that all RxBox recipients will be using iClinicsys as the
official electronic medical record.

7. LIST OF RXBOX SITES

A total of 107 sites were assigned to region 7 comprised of 45 suites in Cebu, 30 in Bohol, 4 in Siquijor
and 28 in Negros Oriental.
