Jogging Jonas
Wearing black shorts and a T-shirt, a 21-year-old was getting ready to do an early
morning run. He was doing a 5km run to raise money for a charity, and lots of people
were interested in watching. A large group of girls were shouting his name. And why?
Well, this was no ordinary 21-year-old. The runner was Joe Jonas, one of the three
famous Jonas brothers!
Joe Jonas was collecting money for the Special Olympics. The Special Olympics have
done a lot of work to help disabled children and adults to play sports. It's a great charity
but it needs help from celebrities to tell people about its work. Luckily, Joe Jonas was
there to lend a hand. He didn't just do the run – he also gave special prizes. It's a
sponsored run and the 25 people who raised the most money got a special medal and
met Joe before the race. It was a big event, and in the end, they raised over $70,000.
That's not bad for a morning's work!
Joe wasn't alone on the run either– he brought his brother Nick along too, and they did
the run together. That's not surprising because Nick Jonas has also done lots of charity
work. He suffers from diabetes and has started his own charity to tell people about the
disease. He has also presented a video on the internet to ask people to give money to a
children's hospital that works with diabetes. So when it comes to the Jonas Brothers,
charity is a family affair!
