Newsletter No 4: Oktober 2017


Dear Friends,
The autumn is already in full swing and you read the fourth edition of our newsletter!

The olive trees on the island Lesbos are (despite the long drought) full of still green olives and soon

we ll have the first harvest, the early one! My father makes sure on the spot that the trees get enough

water to feed their fruit.

Mid October we begin! Grigoris Gliglis

prepares his unfiltered „agureleo (αγ ουρ

λαιο) Eos (ΗΩ=goddess of dawn in

the greek mythology). Its high percentage in

phenols (over 400 ppm) make it somewhat

spicier but also very healthy for the heart! Of

course it will be part of our Christmas

presents!





Street festivals and new partners

Here in Vienna, there are also few interesting news! 


In the third quarter of this year we took part at several street

festivals, like at Hietzing, Josefstadt, Währing and at Jedleseer

Kirtag (Floridsdorf).

Apart from that, we made 3 new partners: The Vinothek 1130

(Hietzing), the food-cooperative Kukuruz at the 9th district as well

as the shop Süßwasser in the 6th. Furthermore, we continue the

cooperation with the pre-existing ones, counting in total 34

wholesale customers: shops, restaurants, food-cooperatives, the

delivery-service Rita bringts and the hotel magdas, apart from the

100 retail customers.

 Bottling unit of Eolida 


As you probably know, we launched our new brand „Eolida last June. Its bottles were sold

out by September but there are still a few 5 liter cans. Now we d like to show you the place

where they are filled up. Our partner Stratis offered us a tour in August. This winter we ll

bottle here the extra-virgin version of Eolida!

What we manage together

As you probably know, at „The best oil Producer it's not just about great olive oil, olives and

olivepaste. It's about care for the environment, customer-sevice and above all a socially

responsible business. Our activity creates jobs for 3 families on the island: Employment, that in

times of financial crisis is extremely important. We continue to promote fair-trade, organic-

farming methods, protect the earth and the water system, giving the farmers the chance to

choose their destiny. On top of that, since our island was massively hit by the refugee/migration

wave, we work with NGOs like Angalia and Solidarity Lesbos, that take care of unaccompanied

children and refugees, to weather this storm.

An important part of our proceeds is

donated personally to the people that run

day-to-day these

institutions. They are used for medicine,

heating and education. The leader of

Solidarity Lesbos Efi Latsoudi, that we visited recently, was awarded by UNHCR for her voluntary

work with the renowned Nansen award. In this picture she plays with one of the more than 100

children, that live in Solidarity Lesbos.
