This week has been sort of a disaster when it came to practicing. I usually try to practice singing for
one hour a day, but my schedule hasn’t been working with me lately. The only time I’ve been really
practicing this week is in the shower. I would just do some breathing exercises and humming. Not
very sure how just doing breathing exercises will affect my singing but, hopefully it helps. Last
week I competed in a Chinese language singing competition, and made it to the next round. The
finals are in October, so I want to try my best to win. I noticed since I haven’t been practicing, my
breath control and range have drastically reduced. I can also feel some strain on my throat when I
sing higher notes, lack of resonance and other things. But overall, compared to when I first started
getting into singing there has been some better consistency in my voice. For instance, I have some
vibrato in my voice, and albeit very little, I have some flexibility in my voice. What I really want to
improve is my control over my upper range, and transitioning between my upper and lower range
smoothly.
