 Selection Process Overview:

 The selection process in IAF mainly consists of 3 stages as given below:

Air force common


admission online test
(AFCAT)

Engineering knowldge
test (EKT)

Service Selection Board


(SSB)

 AFCAT EXAM

 AFCAT exam stands for Air Force Common Admission Test.


 Basically, it is a written exam conducted by Indian Air Force twice in year to recruit
potential candidates in the IAF for technical as well as non-technical branch i.e. Flying
and Ground duty.
 It is a 2 hr. online test.

 EKT EXAM
 EKT stands for Engineering Knowledge Test.
 It is conducted only for those who apply for ground duty (technical) branch.
 It majorly focuses on testing the general knowledge of an engineering graduate in his/her
respective stream.
 This paper starts immediately after the written AFCAT exam and is of 45 minutes.
 It contains questions dealing with basic concepts of engineering and also a specialized
section to test the depth of it

 SSB
 The Service Selection Board (SSB) is an organization, set up by the Ministry of Defense,
who conducts and investigates the process of recruiting candidates in the Army, Navy and
Air force.
 It handles the SSB Interview to evaluate potential candidates for recruitment.
 The parameters on which the candidates are assessed include intelligence, personality,
compatibility and potential. Addition to this, physical fitness is also being tested.
