Drink-driving campaign stepped up

1 : Have you ever been stopped at a police-check point? Was it to do a breathalyser test or
for some other reason?
2 : Do the police often set up set up controls to conduct breatalyser tests?
3 : What’s the best way to reduce the number of people who drink and drive: educational
campaigns, direct police action or offering alternative means of transport?
4 : Do publicity campaigns in the media have any effect on the numbers of people who drink
and drive or do people generally ignore this kind of publicity?
5 : Is it possible to detect if a driver has consumed drugs?
6 : Has the number of people who drink and drive increased, stayed the same or decreased
over the last few years?
7 : Is there a typical profile of someone who drinks and drives?
8 : Do you know how much alcohol it’s permitted to consume and then drive? Is this the
same for all drivers.
9 : Would you approve of a law saying that it is forbidden to consume any alcohol if you
drive?

Part B. Before reading the article, choose which option you think is correct to complete these
sentences. Explain why you chose the option you did.
