Deforestation:

Deforestation, clearance, or clearing is the removal of a forest or stand of trees

where the land is thereafter converted to a non-forest use. Examples of
deforestation include conversion of forestland to farms, ranches, or urban use. The
most concentrated deforestation occurs in tropical rainforests. About 30 percent of
Earth's land surface is covered by forests.

Dysentery
A type of gastroenteritis that results in diarrhea with blood. Other symptoms may
include fever, abdominal pain, and a feeling of incomplete defecation. It is caused
by several types of infections such as bacteria, viruses, parasitic worms, or
protozoa.

Soil erosion
The displacement of the upper layer of soil, one form of soil degradation. A low
level of erosion of soil is a naturally occurring process on all land. The agents of
soil erosion are water and wind, each contributing a significant amount of soil loss
each year. Soil erosion may be a slow process that continues relatively unnoticed,
or it may occur at an alarming rate causing a serious loss of topsoil. The loss of soil
from farmland may be reflected in reduced crop production potential, lower
surface water quality and damaged drainage networks.

Limnology
The study of the biological, chemical, and physical features of lakes and other
bodies of fresh water.

Oceanography
Also known as oceanology, is the study of the physical and the biological aspects
of the ocean. It is an Earth science covering a wide range of topics,
including ecosystem dynamics ocean currents, waves, and geophysical flu
dynamics plate tectonics and the geology of the sea floor.
