genres: Advertising, Animation, Artists’ Film,
Comedy, Dance, Documentary, Drama, Experimental,
Fashion, Music Video, Thriller and VR.
Name Charlotte Ashley-Carter

My Idea:

My idea for the Unit 13 final major project is to create a music video
to the song Colours of Freedom by Tom Misch. The reason I decided
to choose this song and artist was because that I feel like
teenagers (my target audience) will be able to relate to it more as
this is a very chilled song by an up and coming artist.

Story Line:

For the story line, I want to do it about a girl who is in lessons and
she is staring at the clock waiting for the day to be over. When the
song starts, she walks out the classroom and head to the door,
which leads directly into the sunlight. From here, I am going to
show her in an airport going to New York. The footage up to this
point is going to be in black and white to show sadness. The minute
the plane lands in New York there will be a shot of the city from the
airplane and from here, the title of the video will come up and the
footage will fade into colour. From here, I am going to do a montage
of different clips of her time in New York where she is now happy.
As my main area of focus is on editing, I do not need much of an
BRIEF

audience, instead you will get more of what is going on by listening

to the lyrics of the song. In the music video, I am going to include a
variety of different editing styles so I can show of my skill in this
subject.

Editing:

With the editing, I want it try and show the emotions of the narrative
with creative colour correction. With all of the footage in England,
to show her being unhappy, I want it to be low saturated with a
blue/great tint to show her mood being down. Once the scenes start
in New York City, I am going to up the colour and create a brighter
narrative, which will show the happiness of the narrative more.
Because of the colour changes, it will help me develop my narrative
as this song is about ‘colours of freedom.’

Target Audience:

My song is aimed at teenagers, as it is quite a modern chilled song.

The way I am going to try and make it as appropriate for this age
group is to send out survey’s and to go out into town and conduct
face to face interviews so I can get extra information to help me
with what I am producing.

Rules and Regulations:

If you are creative a short film it must have a running time of

maximum 30 minutes. Feature films are considered to have a run
time of 60 minutes or over.

All production's must be submitted in English or at least have

English sub-titles.

Your entry needs to include your full details such as your name, age
and address. Of course, your production needs to be included in this
