At least 17 people were killed and dozens were injured in the shooting incident
that occurred in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in Parkland, Florida,
United States, Wednesday (14/2/2018). The actor was named Nikolaus Cruz (19)
who is also a former student of the school. Cruz successfully arrested the police
outside the school building. Meanwhile, 17 people including the perpetrators
have been taken to hospital for treatment. Local police chief Scott Israel said the
shooting victims included pupils and adults. A total of 12 people were found dead
in the school, two people were killed outside the school, one person was shot
dead on the street, and two others died in the hospital.

According to police, Cruz was expelled from school for undisciplined acts. Police
believe Cruz has one AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, but it is unclear about other
rifles. "This is a terrible day for Broward, Flroida, the US There are no words to
describe it," Israel said. The shooting incident started from outside the school and
continued into the inner side, where 12 victims were found dead. One witness,
Nicole Baltzer, 18, said she was in a trigonometry class about 10 minutes before
school ended when a fire alarm went off. When the students were evacuated, he
heard six gunshots and everyone ran back into the school. "I heard so many
gunshots, at least six, his voice is very close," he said.

Student parents, Joel Leffler said his two children survived but were still shaken.
"My son I have to jump the fence, he heard about 8 shots, before the perpetrator
ran out of bullets," he said. Students were evacuated from school while raising
their hands, while SWAT team members combed the classroom to make sure
there were no other shooters. Parkland is a region with a population of 31,000
inhabitants, and has been named the safest city in Florida by 2017. The city in
south Florida listed 7 violent crime cases and 186 property crimes.
