1 Setup Guide EMS39R0 Genset Controller Software Version 1.10 troduction The EMS39 is an integrated Genset controller which incorporates full engine protection, LCD display of engine temperature, oil pressure, battery volts speed and genset hour, provides manual start and sip buttons, autostart, and controls excitation of the battery charging alternator. Setup ‘The EMS39 is cup by using the buttons onthe font pan. A sere button is focated just below the © clement midny between start und stop batons. This button is sed to cnlrsc-up mode and to increment through he set-up items ist. The Siar and Stop butions are used to increment and decrement the Values for each item. Auto Operation "ihe Gens fs stared using the same sequencing as above fora manual start when the auto input is ativated, When running ne EMS39 displays “RUN AUTO™ \When the auto input is deactivated, the Genset proceeds to the RUNON state, During RUNON, reactivating the auto input will ‘tomatically restore the Genset to run mode. The controller displays Ready atthe end of the sequence. Note that the above values are not dynamic but are a simple snapshot ofthe values. 6. Alarm Ieons ‘he EMS39 is fited with 4 alam ieons. IF it ashes ifprior to starting, Engine Oil Pressure is detected, Engine Temperature “The Engine Temperature icon indicates red if engine temperature exceeds the high engine temperature setpoint | ‘minute after the engine has entered the runing state. Battery Alarm ‘The Battery Alurm icon flashes briefly once every 10 seconds ifthe battery voltage is below the low battery set point. This condition normally oceurs when the engine has been standing for some time without the battery being fon charge. “The icon indicates red when the engine is running ifthe battery altemator excitation voltage is low. Scheduled Running The EMS39 has the ability to provide a scheduled start ofthe genset at preset intervals. The runtime (RNTM) gives the duration ofthe eunning period in minutes. The off time (OFTM) gives the time in hours between completion ofthe last run time and the next start. If the engine runs before the off time is completed, the off time will restart from when the engine stopped. The frst scheduled running ofthe genset will occur once the OFTM has expired after the scheduling is enabled, ‘When the genset is running in scheduled start mode, it shows “RUN SCHD” on its display. int. A warning message indicating BAT LOW «will be cycled on the display. IF it detects an open erouit ofl sensor it will lash the oil pressure alarm LED. 9. Trouble shooting The EMS39 displays the following messages when an alarm occurs.
