Kindergarten Parent Orientation

As the first day of Kindergarten is quickly approaching, we are sure you are excited and a bit nervous.
We are looking forward to meeting your child and beginning your child’s school journey with you.

Kindergarten Parent Orientation will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012, at 6:00 pm at Central
Elementary School. We will hold the meeting in the cafeteria.

The Kindergarten teachers and I will share with you the importance of attendance, first grading period
standards that your child will be working hard to master, activities you can do at home to prepare
your child for Kindergarten, as well as a parent tips in helping your child be successful throughout the
Kindergarten year.

The first day of school for Kindergarten students is Monday, August 27, 2012. You will receive a
letter in the mail indicating a 30 minute Kindergarten screening time for your child during the school
day on August 22-24. During this screening, you will complete paperwork as your child completes a
short state mandated assessment called the KRAL.

As excited, as we are to meet your child, we ask that your child does not attend the Parent
Orientation. Our goal is to inform you about the ins and outs of Kindergarten. We look forward to
meeting your child at Open House on Monday, August 20, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 pm, as well as
during their screening time.

We look forward to sharing valuable information with you on Monday, August 6, at 6:00 pm.
