Lesson Plan For Rounding
Lesson Plan For Rounding
Anticipatory Set (How will you excite and focus students on the lesson for the
day?): I will start by using Nearpod, and give them an activity to start the lesson.
Objective/Purpose :By the end of the lesson students will be able to understand
place value properties and round decimal numbers.
Input: Students must know their numbers, and know how to round whole
numbers.
Model: I will be using Nearpod for the whole lesson, so students can really get to
know the material.
Guided Practice : During my lesson I have students learning how to round through
activities and problem solving.
Check for Understanding: I have students fill in the blank, draw and circle
answers to make sure they understand what they are doing throughout the
lesson. Using this program I can see each students response making it easy for me
to adjust and reteach what they don’t understand.
Closure : I will give the students a short five question quiz at the end to make sure
they understood the material.
Independent Practice : Before I give students the quiz I give them problems on
the board for them to complete and hand in at the end of the day.
Summary:
At the beginning of class I will have my students get a computer or any electronic
device and long on to Nearpod. Starting with the warm up, I am having them
circle the whole numbers then the decimals so I know they understand which is
which. That is when I will use a video to introduce rounding and I picked this video
because it gives some real life examples about how we use rounding everyday.
After the video, I will review with the students the names of each place value to
make sure they understand which place value is which. Once students understand
the place values of a decimal we will introduce the rules to rounding. After the
activities and the interaction using Nearpod students will be masters of rounding.
