Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
Adding closed captioning to help students who are hard of hearing or deaf. Having the students in groups and
allowing students to listen through headphones. Screen readers to help students who are blind. Multiple
languages already incorporated in the software help students who are learning a new language. Additionally,
BrainPOP allows users to pause, fast forward, and rewind for individual learning.

Lesson idea implementation:

The students will first be split into groups of 3-4 students. In these groups, the students will watch the
BrainPOP Jr. video that talks about George Washington. Once the students have finished the video and
discussed it, the class will come back together to create a timeline as a group. The teacher will guide the
group. The students will lead the teacher in what to put and where to put it on the timeline. The timeline
that is used can be found on readwritethink.org.

Reflective Practice:
After designing this lesson, I feel that the lesson could positively impact student learning by introducing a new
topic in a way that engages students through two different means of technology. By starting with the video
and allowing the students to work in small groups, the students can work at their own pace and start and stop
the video as needed. The students will then be equipped with the information they need to create a timeline.
