“Identifying signs of Autism and Understanding Autistic Behavior through Eye-Tracking

Technology on Video games” – Idea presented by Bryan Juanico and Haron Hakeen Lua

Truly, eye tracking studies has a lot to offer in today’s society especially in medical
diagnosis such as determining early sign of autism.

One study from UCSD Autism Center of Excellence believed that an infant’s choice of
what to look at from the first days of life can signify if that child is at risk for developing autism.
A study published in the Archives of General Psychiatry in 2010, infants as young as 14 months
who eventually went on to receive a final diagnosis of autism looked at movies of geometric
shapes more often than movies of children dancing and doing yoga.

If toddler examined geometric shapes more than 70% of the time, the probability of
accurately classifying that toddler as having an autism spectrum disorder was 100%. Therefore
this study is one clear example how eye tracking technology can be used to discover early
markers of autism. (Eye Gaze Search., n.d)

My recommendation is combining eye tracking and video games when the toddler or a
children focus on the abstract thing the game app can do like singsong nature of poems or the
repetition of verses in a song or to make video game mood socializing. To prevent such early
signs of autism.
