REFLECTION PAPER 2

In english curriculum development, we have studied a lot of things related to curriculum.

Some of them are environment analysis, needs analysis, planning goals and learning outcomes, and
also try to analyze syllabus.

In need analysis, we learnt about what students, teachers, and environment needs in a
learning process, the lacks and wants of them. So that, the curriculum will be suitable in all aspects.
To know needs, lacks, and wants, the curriculum designer should do an interview or analyze data
based on the questionnaire. After it, the curriculum designer should consider them, then decide and
produce a suitable curriculum.

In environment analysis, we learnt about the factors which are involved in a curriculum.
They are societal factors (eg. Citizen, politic, and government), teacher factors ( eg. Training and
principle), learner factors (eg. Previous english ability), institutional factors (eg. Facility), project
factors and adoption factors.

In planning goals and learning outcomes, we learnt some ideologies in curriculum design.
They are academic rationalism, social and economic efficiency, learner-centeredness, social
reconstructionism, and cultural pluralism. In addition, we also learnt about stating curriculum
outcomes which include aims and objectives.

Learning about all these, it helps us in analyze syllabus. We try to find some weaknesses of
the syllabus and try to correct it for some aspects and information which is told by the lecturer.
Finally, at least, we know what should we look at and consider when we analyze the syllabus.
