Department of Education Region VI - Western Visayas DIVISION OF CAPIZ Banica, Roxas City July 20, 2017 Division Memorandum No, 01_, s. 2017 THE 2017 MTAP-DepED SATURDAY MATHEMATICS PROGRAMS To: Public Schools District Supervisors/ Officers —In-Charge of the Districts Heads of Public Elementary, Secondary and Integrated Schools Heads of Private Elementary and Secondary Schools 1. The Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepED), Division of Capiz will be offering the 2017 MTAP-DepED Saturday Mathematics Programs for Regular and Talented Learners from Grade 1 to Grade 11. 2. The first program aims to: a.) provide learners with the opportunity to explore mathematics without the threat of tests; b) review the materials covered last school year to enable learners to do well in Mathematics this school year; and c) prepare the Grade 6 pupils and Grade 10 students for the entrance examinations for Grade 7 Junior High School and Grade 11 Senior High School (SHS) respectively. In addition to objectives (a) and (c), the second program aims to prepare talented learners for the Metrobank-MTAP-DepED Math Challenge Competition. Participation to these programs is on voluntary basis only. 3. The Saturday Mathematics Program for regular learners in the Division of Capiz will be conducted on six (6) Saturdays , 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon from August 5 to September 9, 2017. The sessions will be for pupils/students who belong from the 25% Percentile to the 85% percentile at each grade from Grade 1 to Grade 11. A written Permit from parents is necessary. 4. The Saturday Program for Mathematically Talented Learners will be conducted ‘on seven (7) Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon from October 28 to December 9, 2017. The sessions will be for leamers who belong to the top 15th percentile, The school principal shall endorse pupils who wish to participate upon presentation of the permit from the parent/guardian.5. _ There will be a nominal fee of Two Hundred Pesos (PhP200.00) for the six (6) sessions and Two Hundred Fifty (PhP250.00) for the seven (7) sessions, which must be aid at the Center where the student will participate on or before August 4, (October 27), 2017. Strict adherence to the deadline is necessary to prevent any disorder in organizing classes on August § , (October 28) 2017. 6.
