Name or title of programme:
My favourite albums of 2017
Planned broadcast:
This programme will be played annually, between Christmas and new years. This is
because the show can be seen as a sort of ‘round up’ of the best new albums released
over the year. There will also be an interview with a musician, where we will discuss
some of his favorite albums and inspirations from 2017.
Length of show:
The length of the show will be roughly 40 minutes.
I plan to do my show with limited scripting, because I work better without a script. I will
have point which I plan to include and the question I plan to ask in the interview.
I will still try to keep formal with my presenting style as thing is what my listeners would
expect.
Resources required
Equipment:
I will need basic radio recording equipment as well as the editing software.
Location:
I will need to book out a studio.
There are various kinds of music throughout the programme, but they are all songs that
I have heard on 6 Music throughout the year.
For the programme I plan to not have that many jingles and soundbeds. I will include
things such as fades from songs and introductions to different parts of the show.
Budgeting information
As 6 Music is a BBC station, it is a public service remit. A public service remit is content
which has been funded through TV licences, for the purpose of informing, educating or
entertaining people. Also, being a BBC station, there is no income from advertising.
6 Music has around 2,400,000 listeners (for the time my programme will be on). This
means they have to pay considerable royalties to the creators of the content (for my
show the people who have written the music). As 6 Music has such a high listener
count, they would be likely to pay the highest royalty fee of around 5.25% of the net
broadcasting revenue (over £1,459,451).
The estimated pay for my shows presenter is roughly £200,000-£250,000 a year. This is
based on the pay of 6 Music DJ Mark Radcliffe. In the past year there has been
annoyance towards how much the BBC, with how much they pay some presenters. Due
to this, it is likely that presenters wages will decrease in the near future.
