A) Theme:
Forgiveness
B) Passage:
Cast away from all your crimes you have committed, and make for yourselves a new
heart and a new spirit. I find no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies – oracle of the
Lord God. Turn back and live. (Ezekiel 18: 31-32, NABRE)
C) Reflection:
As humans and children of God we are made to be perfectly imperfect. We are reminded
of our imperfections by our sins we commit. We feel guilt and sadness when we turn
away from God, but we must not fear the Lord because of our wrong doings. We were
made to make mistakes, and God always chooses to forgive us. Our Lord is merciful and
full of compassion. In times of darkness we must see the light that shines bright in our
hearts. Us, the children of God, live and regret, but God will always forgive and forget.
We must not mourn on the past, but instead look towards the future, our
God, and our life.
D) Prayer:
Our merciful Lord, we ask you to forgive us when we sin and cause pain. Grant us so that
we may see Your light and guide us to the right path in life.

Help us understand our sins so that we may learn from them to become better people.
You always see the light in us, and we ask You to make that light shine bright. Aid us in
finding forgiveness in ourselves and others so that we may become better children of
God. When we feel our guilt and sadness we ask You to help and protect us from our
wrong doings. Guide us in mercy so that we may receive mercy.

We pray and protect those who can not find mercy and light with the Lord. We pray that
these people find You, and You provide kindness and mercy upon them. May they
receive full forgiveness so that they can live out their lives in Your name. Lord, help us
end all sadness and pain throughout our lives so that we can give our all to You.

Merciful Lord, we ask that You find forgiveness in us, and that You provide guide and
mercy throughout our lives. Amen.
