John Locke

John Locke was born 1632 England and died at the age of 72 in 1704. John was an

English writer, philosopher, and physician. Most of his work was devoted to epistemology (the

theory of knowledge) and political philosophy, and he has greatly influenced thought. His ideas

have influenced many famous thinkers (like scottish enlightenment thinkers) as well as american

revolutionaries. His ideas about “classical republicanism and liberal theory” (Wikipedia) can be

seen in the United States declaration of independence. Overall, John Locke is thought to be one
