HOW TO USE THIS DOCUMENT

The Campaign Workbook offers a series of forms designed to help you, the Gamemaster,
develop and organize the materials needed for a long-term roleplaying campaign.

We suggest you print these pages out as needed and hole punch them for use in a three-
ring binder. Most of the forms are self-explanatory but the guide below should help
explain their intended use.

PAGE FORMAT
Each form has a large left margin to allow for hole punching. Along the right margin
you’ll notice an alphanumeric code that is used to organize the pages.

Below that is a box containing the word “of”. Use this box to track the number of each of
that form you’re using. For example, if you’re using three copies of form A5 you would
write “1 of 3”, “2 of 3” and so forth in this box.

As you print more of each form the alphanumeric code will help you with the placement
of that new page in your binder. You also use these codes as shorthand reference for
yourself when making campaign notes or developing adventures. What sections each
letter represents and the specific use of each form is listed below.

SECTION A. – CAMPAIGN BASICS

A1. The basic details of your campaign, including the basic concept, a rough idea
of the campaign’s background, and any overarching plot lines the campaign with
center around.

A2. Track the supplements you allow to be used in your campaign. If you only
allow certain rules to be used from those supplement, note those here.

A3. List your table rules. How do you handle missing players? What activities do
you allow or disallow at the table? How are GM rulings handled (do you allow
players to contest your rulings, etc.)? Any special rules regarding dice rolling (do
you allow die rollers on laptops, cell phones)? How much or little metagaming is
allowed at the table (do you let players talk game mechanics)? How much or little
table talk is allowed and under what circumstances? What do you allow at the
table (laptops, snacks, cell phones, can players reference books)?

A4. Track your players, their characters and various contact info here.

A5. Print multiple copies of this sheet to track each PC’s experience and game
participation.

A6. Which monsters occur in your campaign world.

A7. Track which languages your PCs know and don’t know.
SECTION B. – SETTING DETAILS

B1. Details your campaign world’s calendar.

B2. Track the real and campaign dates of your game sessions.

B3. Detail your campaign’s major historical events and timeline here.

B4. Detail recent local and major events in your campaign world or the PCs’
immediate vicinity here.

B5. Detail your campaign’s currency if it differs from the rules as printed. Also
track any unusual details about the world’s economy.

B6. Use multiple copies of this form to develop your world’s pantheon or add to
the pantheon of a published setting.

B7. Use this form to map your setting.

B8. The key from any maps on the B7 form.

B9. Add languages to a published setting or develop new languages for your
campaign. The new script boxes can be used to create a new alphabet for your
language like those for elvish or dwarven tongues.

SECTION C. – CAMPAIGN RULES

C1. Track your campaign races here and note any differences from published
material.

C2. Use this form to develop new races or alter existing races.

C3. Note which classes are allowed in your game and any special changes or
purposes they serve in your campaign.

C4. Use this form for new skills or new skill uses.

C5. Add feats to your campaign and track any feats you don’t allow.

C6. Detail new weapons, armor and equipment here.

C7. Detail original magic items, relics, and so forth.

C8. Detail new spells and rituals.


C9. Detail any house rules or modifications to published rules here.

SECTION D. – CAMPAIGN SETTINGS AND NPCS

D1. Track the various countries and kingdoms in your setting.

D2. Track villages and cities here.

D3. Track the inns and taverns the PCs will likely gravitate towards.

D4. Develop the locations of dungeons to seed your setting with.

D5. Track various shops in the villages and cities in your setting. A separate sheet
can be used for each village/city.

D6. Detail the guilds and organizations (benign or malign) in your setting.

D7. Track major NPCs here.

SECTION E. – ADVENTURE TRACKING AND DEVELOPMENT

E1. Track which adventures you’ve run and the outcome of those adventures here.

E2. Develop rumors as adventure hooks here and track their use.

E3. Use this form to develop new adventures.

E4. Use this form to develop encounters for your adventures.
