Executive Summary

A bank is an institution, which deals with money or monetary matters. It is a financial


institution that accepts deposits and channels those deposits into lending activities. Banks are
important players in financial markets and offer services such as investment funds and loans.
Banks borrow money by accepting funds deposited on current accounts, by accepting term
deposits, and issuing debt securities such as banknotes and bonds. Banks lend money by
making advances to customers and making installment loans. A bank generates a profit from
the differential between the level of interest it pays for deposits, and the level of interest it
charges in its lending activities. now a days to generate more profit banks merge with
investment and insurance houses and use risk-based pricing. Lending activities is still provide
the bulk of a bank's income. Banks' activities can be divided into retail banking (dealing
directly with individuals and small businesses), business banking (providing services to mid-
market business), corporate banking (directed at large business entities), and investment
banking (relating to activities on the financial markets). Commercial bank refer to a bank or a
division of a bank that mostly deals with deposits and loans for corporations or large
businesses, as opposed to normal individual members of the public (retail banking).
