Su infancia transcurrió en el latifundio de su tío, donde entro en contacto con la realidad social
ecuatoriana que marco toda su obra

La historia transcurre en Ecuador en la primera mitad del siglo 20, siendo sus personajes
principales los indios de los huasipungos, huasipungos son los ranchos, propiedad de los
patrones, en los que habitan estas personas. Es una de las obras más representativas de la
literatura indigenista, movimiento que precedió al realismo mágico y que enfatizaba un realismo
brutal.

Yo recomiendo esta novela literaria porque me pareció muy interesante y gracias al lenguaje
descriptivo del autor, se puede apreciar el abuso del que fueron objeto los indios, quienes fueron
considerados como seres sin ningún valor.

Este escritor logra su intención que a mi parecer es sensibilizar al lector, denunciando el drama
que vivió el indio andino. Logró describir de manera directa y dramática acontecimientos que
están vinculados con la historia de nuestro país.

The story takes place in Ecuador in the first half of the 20th century, being its main
characters the Indians of the huasipungos, huasipungos are the ranches, owned by the
patrones, in which these people live. It is one of the most representative works of indigenist
literature, a movement that preceded magical realism and emphasized a brutal realism.

I recommend this literary novel because it seemed very interesting and thanks to the
descriptive language of the author, one can appreciate the abuse that the Indians were
subjected to, who were considered as beings without any value.
This writer achieves his intention that in my opinion is to sensitize the reader, denouncing
the drama that the Andean Indian lived. He managed to describe directly and dramatically
events that are linked to the history of our country.
