W22 Top Premium Efficiency

The W22 Top Premium Efficiency is in accordance with the efficiency level IE3 specified in IEC 60034-30-1. They are fully
tested and have their efficiency figures declared in accordance with IEC 60034-2-1: 2007 Standard with stray load losses
directly determined by summation of losses.

A higher efficiency means lower power consumption and lower cost of operation. The W22 Top Premium Efficiency is
able to reach higher efficiency thanks to development of best electric and magnetic materials and use more conducting
material.

The rated current could be increase with higher efficiency motors because they have more reactive power. This feature
is naturally handled by the power factor correction system like the WEG Power Factor Correction line.

The locked rotor current and the peak inrush current tends to increase with higher efficiency motors. These transition
effects occur quickly and should not represent problems for the protection system without instantaneous magnetic-only
circuit protectors.

Even if instantaneous magnetic circuit protectors are presented, you may not have problem with inrush and locked rotor
current, because the modern protection devices like WEG Controls line, are ready to this application.

Comparing W22 Top Premium Efficiency with W22 Premium Efficiency Plus it is possible to observe a great economy, like
the next example.

e.g. You need a four pole, 18,5kW, 50Hz, three-phase induction motor WEG.

WEG motor Efficiency Class Efficiency Limit Losses

W22 Premium Efficiency Plus IE2 91,6% 8,4%
W22 Top Premium Efficiency IE3 92,8% 7,2%

The W22 Top Premium efficiency will reduce 14,3% of electricity consumption in against W22 Premium Efficiency Plus.
