Arrival of the Aryans- Omri Magid Script

Slide 1 (Title Slide): Hello, good afternoon! Today we are going to be learning and talking

about the Arrival of the Aryans in Ancient India. At the end of this presentation, we will have a

fun activity. On this picture it says that the Aryans invaded India, but actually all they did was

settle there. That is why it says MYTH! So let’s get started

Slide 2 (What even are the Aryans): Let’s start easy, what even are the Aryans? Well, the

word “Aryan” is from the Sanskrit language, from the word ārya, which mean "noble” or "noble

one". Aryans were nomads, they raised livestock to make money as their job, they usually rode

chariots as they settled in different places, and they loved to gamble. Gambling was one of their

favorite things to do. The Aryans, were basically a tribe that settled in different places.

Slide 3 (Where did they come from): Where did the Aryans come from as they arrived in

India? No one really knew where they came from, but there were many theories. The most

common theory is Central Asia. They arrived in India at around 1500 BCE, and settled in Sapta

Sindhu, also known as Brahmavatra. On their journey to india, they stopped in some grasslands

of Eastern Europe. Around 1000 BCE they expanded to the Ganges Valley in India.

Slide 4 (Their Journey to India): We’re almost done, now we are going to talk about their

journey to India! Studies show that when the Aryans first arrived in India everyone was speaking

different languages in “groups” but when they arrived everyone came together to one language

which was Sanskrit. At first, as the Aryans arrived some people thought that something bad was

going to happen like a war or an attack, but they were just settling there.

Slide 5 (Fun Facts): Buddhism was originally in India, but as the Aryans arrived they added and

formed Hinduism. Also, The Aryans are not unified under a single government, but they share

the same languages and traditions. They are separated into small tribes, each tribe was ruled
by a chief, also known as a rajah. Sacrifices that the Aryans made were usually so complex and

expensive that only the Brahmin could afford it.
