activity Course it is 3rd grade of Compulsory Secondary Education addressed to Objective/s In this activity, students will have to:
- Read and understand specific information of
written texts. - Be able to express information correctly, both orally and in written. - Use ICTS to present information in an organized and clear way. - Make use of their creativity. - Develop the ability for teamwork. These objectives are related to those included in the Decree 48/2015, of 14th May, by the Governing Council, which establishes the curriculum of Compulsory Secondary Education in Madrid (2015, p. 2-3). Timing (number This activity can be carried out in 2 or more class of sessions and sessions depending on the number of students and their estimated length) working pace. Each session will last around 55 minutes. Groupings This activity is designed to be carried out in a class of around 20 students. Students will be grouped in groups of 4 people to carry it out. Resources Computer, Internet Connection, cardboard and needed pens. Description of the activity Key competences that students will develop in this activity are included in the Decree 48/2015, of 14th May, by the Governing Council, which establishes the curriculum of Compulsory Secondary Education in Madrid (2015, p. 4) and are the following: - Linguistic competence. - Digital competence. - Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship. - Learning to learn. - Social and civic competences. Regarding contents, his activity will focus on the narration of fictional events. This content can be found in the Decree 48/2015, of 14th May, by the Governing Council, which establishes the curriculum of Compulsory Secondary Education in Madrid (2015, p. 140). The activity I have designed is the following: Students will read a version of this book which is adapted to their level of competence in English. Once they have read it, students will be divided into groups of 4 people. Each group will select a short passage in the book and explain why they have chosen it to the rest of their partners. After that, students will have to turn the passage they have chosen into a comic. They will have to draw the characters and the setting on a cardboard or look for images to illustrate the comics on the Internet as well as representing the character’s dialogues the way they are represented in a traditional comic. Once the activity is finished, students will have to present it to the teacher and the rest of their partners. After each presentation, both the rest of the groups and the teacher will provide students with some feedback.
Assessment For the assessment of the oral presentation, the
teacher will use a rubric, including the content and organization of ideas, clearness and correction in the written expression and the originality of the project. All these aspects will be marked from 1 (very poor) to 5 (excellent). Moreover, students will vote for their favorite project and the winners will be given a positive point.
