The researchers would want to know the difference a mouse that consumed

Ginkgo Biloba and a mouse that consumed caffeine because both the drug and the herb

are known for its similar properties. According to the research of The Philips University of

Marburg, 1991, the effects of an extract of Ginkgo Biloba on acquisition, performance,

and retention of mice in an appetitive operant conditioning were investigated. It supports

the topic of the researchers because it shows the cognitive effects of the Ginkgo and

caffeine on mice.

According to Chad Stone (2015), extracts of the Ginkgo herb are most commonly

used for treating conditions associated with memory and cognition. According to

MedlinePlus, Ginkgo can increase blood flow the brain and can be effective for the

treatment of Alzheimer's associated memory problems in the elderly. Caffeine is a

substance found in chocolate, coffee, and tea that stimulates mental function. While

caffeine can promote alertness and wakefulness, the effects of caffeine on learning and

memory are less well known. It supports the topic of the researchers because it shows

the difference of effects of caffeine and Ginkgo Biloba.

The researchers therefore conclude that even though the Ginkgo Biloba and

caffeine have similar properties it still has different effects. The mouse that consumed

Ginkgo Biloba have shown different results than the mouse that consumed caffeine. This

shows that even though caffeine and Ginkgo Biloba have similar properties they still have

a wide range of difference.
