The Colgate-Palmolive Company is an American worldwide consumer products

company focused on the production, distribution and provision of household,


health care and personal care products. Under its "Hill's Pet Nutrition" brand, it
is also a manufacturer of veterinary products. The company's corporate offices
are on Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

History
The company Colgate was founded by William Colgate in 1806. Its rival company
Palmolive was founded by B.J jhonson. They merged in 1953 and after merging
Colgate-Palmolive is now world’s biggest producers of hygiene products. They
generate over $15 billion revenue per year today.

PROTECTION”. With advance in technology and changing customer needs, the

Colgate-Palmolive was declared the most trusted brand by “Brand equity”
probably the most trusted brand survey conducted by Nielsen from 2011 – 2016.

Position of Colgate-Palmolive in India

Colgate-Palmolive entered the Indian market in 1937.


From 2003- 2007 Colgate Palmolive was identified as
most trusted brand. They covered about 53.2% of the
market share value in 2016-2017.The current data on
market share value of Colgate-Palmolive has decreased
by 0.85% in BSE and 1.35% in NSE.

The main reason behind the falling share is that in rural India growth of Colgate
has slowed significantly. The consumer are moving to other alternative or maybe
