HOMEWORK

Coin Counting Machine

PLAN

1. Know how the machine will work (means of operation)

2. Validation on the materials to be used, size of the machine, target price, capacity
of the machine and limit of counting

3. Name of product

RESULTS OF VALIDATION

First Validation

1. The machine should be either battery or manually-operated to lessen its

operating cost.

2. The material to be used should be made of transparent material such as plastic or

fiber glass. It should be portable, thus having a size like that of a computer’s AVR.
Since the target market includes small business scales such as sari-sari stores,
photocopy centers, vendo-machines, piso-nets, etc., the amount should be minimal
ranging to 300 to 500 pesos. Its input capacity should be handful but can count and
sort 4-digit amount per peso coin.

3. COCO – Coin Counter

Other concerns:

a. detection of fake and real peso coin

b. coins having almost equal diameters

c. it should be fast like bill counters

d. low maintenance

e. can operate without using electricity

Second Validation

1. The machine is operated by both using battery and electricity. The concern in
these means of operations is that it will not be used when there is no electricity and
the capacity of the battery that can make the machine work.

2. The material should be made of plastic. Its size should depend on its capacity.
Greater amount of money means larger size of machine. It should sort and count up
to 3-digit amount per peso coin that should be arranged or stacked properly after
sorting and counting.
