BONUS Calculation Practice Problem

Calculate the dose to the axilla for an anterior 6MV photon supraclavicular
field. The SC receives 180cGy/fx to 3cm depth at 102 SSD. The axilla point
is 6cm deep and 106 SSD. The OARs for the SC and axilla are 1.04 and 1.01
respectively. The effective field size for both points at 100 cm is 20 x 10.

Isocentric Calculation:

Tips: the effective field size would need to be figured out at the new depths.
The new equivalent square field size at 105cm is 14cm and for 112cm is
14.9cm. TMR (3, 14.0) = .983; TMR (6, 14.9) = .908; Sp (14.0) = 1.011; Sp
(14.9) = 1.013

You will need to ratio the TMRs, OARs, Sp’s, inverse square and then
multiply by the prescribed dose

Non-isocentric Calculation:
Eq.Sq. at 102 and 106 SSD is 13.6 and 14.1 respectively. %DD (3, 13.6,
100) = 95.7; %DD (6, 14.1, 100) = 83.5;
%DD (3,13.6,102) = ?; %DD (6,14.1,106) = ?
Sp(13.6)=1.010; Sp(14.1)=1.011
Depth of dmax = 1.6cm

Tips: you will need to figure out the Mayneord F Factor for both points to
get the new %DD.
Ratio the %DD; Sp’s, OARs, inverse square and then multiply by the
prescribed dose

NOTE: Should the dose get higher or lower????? Know this before
answering.
