Dear Ms. Gearing,

While searching the Arizona Education Employment Board website, a job posting for an
8th grade language arts teacher at Kingman Academy of Learning caught my eye. I would love
to meet with you to discuss this opportunity. In May 2018, I will graduate from Arizona State
University and I have gained experience student teaching 7th, 8th and 9th graders. Teaching has
always been my goal and I have a passion for community. I believe that your emphasis on
students’ participation in their own education and parental involvement will make me a good fit
for this position.

In addition to earning my degree in Education from ASU, I also have experience in

education. In the Air Force, I was a trainer for new recruits and was able to ensure their self-
sufficiency in the military. I also volunteered as a classroom supporter in an 8th grade classroom
where I observed a teacher in action. These experiences not only gave me experience teaching
Language Arts, but also in classroom management and dynamics. When I graduate, I will have
earned a B.A. in English Secondary Education, emphasizing in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades, and my
dedication to Language Arts education will make me a good fit for this position. My experiences
align with your goals of responsible and self-reliant students.

Thank you very much for your time and attention. With my experience in young adult
education and academic knowledge of Language Arts, I think I will be a good fit for this
position. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss this opening further. I will contact you
on March 25th to discuss my application. If you have any questions or would like to contact me,
please call me at 303-887-9198 or email me at kmcgill4@asu.edu. Again, I appreciate your
consideration.

Sincerely,

Kayleigh R. McGill
