To our City Mayor, Hon. Ericson G. Singson, M.D., my fellow councilors, Dr.

Archimedes Mercado, Chief of Hospital, to the GC Rivera Foundation headed by

Dr. Rebecca Rivera, Founder, Mr. Lito Pernia, Executive Director and Jere Rivera-
Dugenio, Ph.D., President, and Mission Team from Candon City LGU, good
evening.

Today, as we celebrate the Appreciation Night for the GC Rivera Foundation Team
and LGU Mission Team, we also celebrate Valentine’s Day.

“Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine,

is celebrated annually on February 14. Originating as a Western Christian Feast
Day honoring one or two early saints named Valentinus, Valentine's Day is
recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration
of romance and romantic love in many regions around the world, although it is
not a public holiday in any country.”

Hence, this night, we give our love to the GC Rivera Foundation, as an

appreciation of their love in helping our constituents during their four-day Surgical
and Medical Mission in our beloved city, City of Candon which was held at City of
Candon Hospital and Candon Civic Center. I would also like to appreciate the
Autism Team wherein they patiently assessed and helped our children with special
needs.

The city government is forever grateful to everyone who shared their talents and
services during this mission.

I will end my speech through a saying that goes “Love cures people - both the
ones who give it and the ones who receive it. Dr. Karl Menninger”.
