As part of B.Ed.

curriculum I had to participate in a four month

internship programme. The school allotted for me was St.Joseph’s
C.G.H.S.S.and this my second experience in teaching.The class allotted
to me was standered VII B. This internship gave me a wonderful
moment as a teacher trainee, because I enjoyed a lot and learnt so many
things. .There was 42 students in a class.this internship was a great
opportunity to mould myself as a teacher.
This four month internship programme helped me to improve my skills
in teaching. Also through this experience I was able to do a lot thing
like, How to manage class? How to enhance or grab the student’s
attention towards teaching learning process? How to solve the problems
faced by students, and How to behave as a teacher?how to work with
efficient teachers ,how to organize various programmes for students.
Through the 4 month internship programme ,I realized that ,teaching is
a noble profession.And it required ample effort to change the student
attitude towards learning mathematics. Also I recognized that through
reinforcement we can motivate the students to do what they are capable
of.
I was able to analyse the talents of my students through their
performance of different activities. And was able to identify those
students who need more guidance and my attention. By focusing on the
different learner needs I had conducted different activities inorder to
motivate them to learn the subject math.
During my internship programme I found that most of the student
considers mathematics as a dry subject. It is due to lack of basics in
mathematics. But through group discussion, group activities most of the
student showed interest in mathematics. They are interested in learning
by doing method. Achievement test, unit test and other test helped me to
analyze the student’s achievement in learning. Diagnostic test helped me
to identify student’s difficulty in learning. So that I take different
remedial measures related to their learning difficulty.
It’s a great opportunity to work with St.Joseph’s team .They are very
supportive in each and every activities.
It’s a great opportunity to mould and improve my teaching skills as a
mathematics teacher.
As a whole it was really a good experience for me.
