SOLID:

Procedure:

1. Use a soft cloth or tissue to clean the bolt smooth faces.


2. Rotate both bolts out of the sample assembly.
3. Use a cotton bud to clean the interior of the sample assembly.
4. Place the weighing paper on the weighing balance and weight about 0.2g of KBr.
5. Add a speck of the solid sample (approximately 1% of KBr added) into the mortar.
6. Transfer the measured KBr into the mortar.
7. Grind the mixtures well using the pestle for 1 to 2 minutes.
8. Rotate the shorter bolt into the assembly.
9. Allow the assembly to rest the bench mounted wrench.
10. Use the metal spatula to transfer the mixture into the aperture.
11. Tap the sides of the assembly to even out the mixture.
12. Rotate the long bolt into the assembly and leave the assembly for 1 minute.
13. Use the spanner to rotate the bolts out and the solid is ready.
14. Open the cover of the FTIR and make sure there is no sample inside. Then, close the
cover back.
15. Click the background scan.
16. Open the cover again once the scan has been done.
17. Put the sample assembly onto the holder.
18. Close the cover and click sample scan.
19. After the scan, use a clean cotton bud and put to the aperture of the sample assembly.
20. Scratch of any reminisce on the inner wall.
