Dear  Hiring  Manager,  
 
My   name   is   Mirza   Foisal   Ahmed.   Currently,   I   am   a   Postdoctoral   Fellow   in   the   Department   of  
Mechanical   and   Industrial   Engineering   at   Ryerson   University,   Toronto,   Canada   under   Prof.  
Daolun   Chen   and   Prof.   Sanjeev   Bhole's   supervision.   I   am   writing   to   apply   for   the   position   of  
“Engineer   Materials   Laboratory   (f/m)”.   I   believe   I   have   the   skills   and   relevant   research  
experience  to  contribute  meaningfully  towards  the  organization’s  target  and  aspirations.  
 
I  would  like  to  bring  a  few  relevant  points  about  my  background  and  research  experience:  
 
•   Expertise   in   metallurgy   (i.e.,   standard   metallographic   sample   preparation   techniques),  
corrosion  testing  and  ultrasonic  welding.  
•   Extensive  experience  in  mechanical  testing  (i.e.,  fatigue,  tensile,  and  compression  tests).  
•   Firm   understanding   of   quantitative   image   analysis,   X-­ray   diffraction   techniques   (phase  
identification   and   texture   measurements),   energy-­dispersive   X-­ray   spectroscopy   (EDS),  
and  Electron  backscatter  diffraction  (EBSD).  
•   Expertise  in  mechanical  design  (AutoCAD,  CATIA,  and  SolidWorks)  and  computer  aided  
engineering  (linear  and  non-­linear  FEA  using  ANSYS).  
•   Knowledge   in   analytical   and   numerical   solutions   to   mixed   boundary   value   2-­D   elasticity  
problems  of  structural  elements  of  composite  materials.  
•   Published   fourteen   (15)   peer-­reviewed   journal   papers,   nineteen   (19)   conference   papers,  
and  one  invited  book  chapter  (52  pages).  
•   Mentored  two  undergraduate  summer  students  and  several  master’s  and  PhD  students  by  
offering  technical  suggestions  and  ideas  as  well  as  helping  them  to  refine  and  explain  their  
projects.
