ABSTRACT
In this developing world concrete becomes an integral part as it has to
meet the infrastructure needs of the growing population. In this regards, cement
manufacturing is one of the major hazard in injecting the carbon di oxide (COz) to
the atmosphere. So in turn it becomes a major concer to the environment and
replacement of cement in necessary. Necessity of cement replacement provide way
for the invention of Geopolymer concrete. Geopolymer concrete uses no cement
and it is made with materials that are rich in silica, alumina such as fly ash, rice
husk ash (RHA), ete which are waste materials from industries. In this
experimental study, rice husk ash is used as the replacement for fly ash in fly ash
based Geopolymer concrete to study the influence of RHA on mechanical
properties of Geopolymer concrete. Totally six proportions are considered with
RHA replacement of 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%. Sodium hydroxide
(NaOH) and sodium silicate (NazSiOs) are the alkaline solution used for the mix.
‘The molar concentration considered for the mix varies from 8M-16M of NaOH.
Curing of specimens is done by both heat and ambient condition. The results and
conclusions in this report are made by considering compressive strength of mortar
cube a
a major parameter.
