Everyone know not to use the phone while


driving, but your phone distracts you way more than you realize, and it’s hurting your
productivity even if you’re diligent about avoiding the siren song of that chime or ringtone
that indicates a call or message, just hearing the notification is enough to derail you.

Drivers are constantly reminded not to use their phones while behind the wheel, but a new
study reminds us just how dangerous it is. The National Safety Council's annual injury and
fatality report, "Injury Facts," found that the use of cellphones causes 26% of the nation's car
accidents, a modest increase from the previous year.

Mobile phones can disrupt attention performance even if one does not interact with the
device.
