Electron Affinity

-Electron affinity is the amount of energy that is involved when an atom gain extra electrons.

-It is usually ecpressed in kilojoules/mole

-Positive electron affinity values mean that the atom absorbs energy to gain extra electrons

-Negative values mean that atom releases energy in the places.

-It is also a general trend that the stronger the attraction of an atom to an electton, the more negative
the electron affinity is.

-Nonmetals have higher electron affinity than the metals.
